LRT Confirms Body Found in Electrical Substation Near Pancoran Station is Not an Employee

LRT Jabodetabek has spoken out regarding the discovery of a body inside an electrical substation in the area surrounding Pancoran LRT Station, South Jakarta. The LRT management has confirmed that the deceased was not one of their employees.

“The suspected deceased is not an LRT employee,” said Radhitya Mardika, Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodetabek, when contacted on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

Radhitya stated that this certainty arises from the fact that no LRT employees have been reported missing as of today.

“Yes, because if it were an LRT employee, it would be noticeable if someone went missing,” Radhitya explained.

Radhitya added that the company only became aware of the suspected body in the Pancoran electrical substation this evening. After a foul odour was detected, which was suspected to originate from a corpse, the LRT management immediately contacted the police to attend the location.

“Due to the odour, officers arrived to check, and because this involves a deceased person, we called the police to conduct identification according to their expertise,” he said.

Furthermore, Radhitya noted that LRT Jabodetabek operations, specifically at Pancoran LRT, have not been impacted. Transport services continue to run normally.

“The main point for the LRT is that this has not caused any travel disruptions,” he added.

Observations at 19:20 WIB on Tuesday (1/9) showed residents crowding the area beneath Pancoran LRT Station and the pedestrian overpass. A foul smell could be detected around the station area.

Police line tape has been erected near the electrical substation located beneath Pancoran LRT Station. Members of the police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) were seen at the crime scene. Transport Department officials were also present at the location. The identity and gender of the victim have not yet been determined.
