LPTK FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Inaugurates 3,031 New Professional Teachers

A total of 3,031 teachers have officially attained professional status following their inauguration by the LPTK Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. These educators, who graduated from the 2025 Batch 4 In-Service PPG programme, are prepared to implement new pedagogical approaches in their respective regions.

This step is part of the university’s consistent efforts to strengthen national education standards and quality sustainably. The inauguration ceremony was held on Saturday, 30 May 2026, using a hybrid format to reach all participants. The enthusiasm for the graduation was evident, with 490 participants attending in person in Yogyakarta, while 2,541 others joined the procession online from various regions across Indonesia.

The educators inaugurated this time include teachers from madrasahs as well as Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers serving in public schools. Before reaching this final stage, they completed a rigorous and challenging series of professional education modules. The entire process was undertaken as a collective effort to strengthen competence, hone professionalism, and solidify their ethical responsibilities as educators for the nation’s future generations.

The peak of the inauguration ceremony was led by the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, S.Ag., M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. While reading the official inauguration script, the Rector expressed great hope that the latest graduates would fulfil their new roles as professional teachers by adhering strictly to the Indonesian teacher’s code of ethics.

“With this, I inaugurate you as professional teachers of the 2025 In-Service Teacher Professional Education programme. May you become professional teachers who uphold the Indonesian teacher’s code of ethics,” stated Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan in a written statement received on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

During the same event, the Dean of FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. Sigit Purnama, M.Pd., provided a comprehensive report on the programme. He explained that the 2025 Batch 4 In-Service PPG programme included participants from various subject backgrounds. Specifically, the composition of the thousands of participants consisted of 997 Islamic Religious Education teachers, 103 Akidah Akhlak teachers, 1,534 MI (Islamic Elementary) class teachers, 296 RA (Islamic Kindergarten) class teachers, and 101 Islamic Cultural History teachers. This diversity of subjects demonstrates the extensive scope of quality improvement efforts undertaken by the university.
