LPSK Verifies Sony Sonjaya's Justice Collaborator Application Documents
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is verifying a request from former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sonjaya to become a justice collaborator (JC), after his previous application was rejected by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung).
LPSK Deputy Chair Wawan Fahrudin stated that the application, submitted by Sony’s legal team on 9 June 2026, is currently in the document verification stage. The agency is also processing a written request from his lawyers for protection for Sony’s family.
Wawan confirmed that LPSK is gathering data, facts, and information, and coordinating with law enforcement and related parties to examine the statements and evidence provided. “The review of the application is carried out by LPSK within 30 working days after the application is declared complete,” he said on Wednesday (24/6).
LPSK Chair Achmadi separately stated that the agency is still investigating the JC application and will coordinate further with relevant parties.
Sony’s lawyer, Krisna Murti, revealed that the application was made due to a lack of security and safety guarantees for Sony and his family after he disclosed dozens of names allegedly involved in the case. The legal team hopes LPSK will make an objective decision without external intervention.
Previously, the Attorney General’s Office rejected Sony’s JC application. The Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, explained that Sony did not meet the requirements under Law Number 31 of 2014 and Supreme Court Circular Number 4 of 2011. Investigators concluded Sony was the main perpetrator responsible for determining or verifying the locations of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) and had not admitted his actions.
In addition to Sony, the Kejagung has also named former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and former Deputy Head Lodewijk Pusung as suspects in the alleged corruption case involving the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme for 2025-2026. They were named suspects a day after being dismissed by President Prabowo Subianto in early June.
