The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has intervened in the case of doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Doctor Icha, by sending a team to Timor Tengah Utara Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), to investigate the matter further. The move comes amid allegations that the doctor faced intimidation before she was found dead on 26 June 2026. These allegations are currently being investigated by the police and the Ministry of Health. LPSK Deputy Chair Susilaningtyas stated that the team has been in NTT since the end of last week to gather information and establish communication with the victim’s family. The team met with the victim’s father, but the family has not yet submitted a request for protection as they are prioritising the completion of traditional ceremonies. A formal request is required for the LPSK to proceed with an assessment to determine the type of protection that can be provided to the family and witnesses. Doctor Icha was reportedly diagnosed with severe depression after being shouted at by three members of the Timor Tengah Utara Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) while treating a snakebite patient. She passed away two weeks later at her parents’ home in Baumata, Kupang Regency. During the funeral, her father, Gabriel Pakaenoni, emotionally stated that the three parliamentarians had ended his daughter’s life.
