LPSK Reveals Reasons for Rejecting Sony Sonjaya's Justice Collaborator Plea in MBG Corruption Case

The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has revealed the reasons for rejecting a justice collaborator (JC) application submitted by former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya. LPSK Deputy Chairperson Susilaningtias stated that the application was denied because it did not meet the requirements stipulated in Law Number 3 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims and Government Regulation Number 24 of 2025. She explained that several considerations led to the decision, including the fact that information regarding a bigger name allegedly involved had not been conveyed to the LPSK. Furthermore, the agency assessed that Sony was not a secondary perpetrator but rather a main actor in the case. Susi also noted that there was no evidence of threats or concerns regarding threats against him. She added that Sony had not expressed a willingness to return the assets obtained from the criminal act. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office had also rejected the JC application. The Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that investigators considered Sony a main perpetrator in the alleged corruption case involving the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Syarief also noted that during the final examination, Sony still denied his actions, whereas a primary requirement for a JC is that the perpetrator must admit to their alleged deeds.
