BEKASI — The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has provided a safe house for the family of Andrie Yunus, an activist with the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

“We are providing temporary accommodation for the victim’s family with close security presence,” said Sri when confirmed by Kompas.com on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

Andrie Yunus is a victim of an acid attack by unknown assailants.

“Yes (it is free). We will provide comprehensive medical assistance. Of course we will also provide legal process support for his family,” Sri stated.

She added that since Monday (16 March 2026), Andrie and his family have officially been under LPSK protection.

Previously, it was reported that LPSK had provided emergency protection to Andrie following a request from the victim’s family. The request was submitted on 13 March 2026 by the victim’s father on behalf of Andrie.

“This emergency protection is given by considering the vulnerability of security threats to the victim’s safety, the needs of the law enforcement process, and the need for medical treatment or immediate physical protection,” Sri stated in her statement on Sunday (15 March 2026).

It is known that Andrie Yunus’s family home was visited by unknown individuals on 16 January 2026, prior to the acid attack incident. The visit by two unknown persons was suspected to be for the purpose of gathering information about Andrie.

The acid attack incident against Andrie occurred on Thursday (12 March 2026) evening as he was travelling home after attending a podcast event at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office.

Dimas Bagus Arya, Coordinator of KontraS’s Working Board, said the incident occurred at approximately 23:37 Western Indonesia Time on Jalan Salemba I–Talang, in Senen District, Central Jakarta.

The perpetrator driving the vehicle was wearing a white-blue combination shirt, dark trousers believed to be jeans, and a black helmet. Meanwhile, the passenger was wearing a black face covering, a dark blue shirt, and blue trousers that appeared rolled up.

One of the perpetrators then sprayed liquid believed to be corrosive acid towards the victim, hitting parts of his body.

As a result of the incident, Andrie suffered burns on both his right and left hands, face, chest, and eyes.
