BEKASI — The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has provided economic assistance to Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), who became a victim of a corrosive liquid attack by unknown assailants.

“LPSK will provide temporary living cost assistance for the family whilst managing legal proceedings and with the victim in hospital,” said LPSK Vice Chair Sri Suparyati when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

In addition to economic support, Sri stated that LPSK would also provide comprehensive healthcare assistance to Andrie.

“We will also provide legal process support for his family,” said Sri.

Sri added that as of Monday, 16 March 2026, Andrie and his family had formally come under LPSK protection.

Previously, it was reported that LPSK had provided emergency protection to Andrie following a request from the victim’s family on 13 March 2026.

In that submission, the family requested various protection services, ranging from ensuring procedural rights, physical protection in the form of close security, to medical assistance.

“This emergency protection is given in light of security vulnerabilities concerning the victim’s safety, the needs of law enforcement processes, and requirements for immediate medical treatment or physical protection,” Sri stated on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

KontraS Working Board Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya said the incident occurred at 23:37 local time in the Jalan Salemba I–Talang area, Senen District, Central Jakarta.

At the time, the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was approached by two perpetrators also on a motorcycle from the opposite direction.

The driver was wearing a white-and-blue combination shirt, dark trousers believed to be denim, and a black helmet. The passenger was wearing a black face covering, dark blue shirt, and blue trousers folded at the ankles.

One perpetrator then sprayed a liquid believed to be corrosive acid towards the victim, striking parts of his body. As a result of the incident, Andrie sustained burns to both hands, face, chest, and eyes.
