The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has provided emergency protection to a 29-year-old woman, identified as YTR, who is an alleged victim of severe abuse and false imprisonment in Bandung, West Java. This measure was taken to ensure the victim receives intensive medical treatment and protection while the legal process is underway. LPSK Chairman Achmadi stated that the emergency protection was granted on 22 June 2026. The primary focus is currently on facilitating medical services, as the victim is still receiving intensive care at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital in Bandung due to the serious injuries she sustained. “Law Number 3 of 2026 regulates a special situation mechanism that allows for swift and appropriate protection for witnesses and victims in vulnerable conditions. In this case, the victim’s level of vulnerability, the seriousness of the crime, and the importance of the victim’s position in uncovering the case form the basis for LPSK to provide emergency protection,” Achmadi said in Jakarta on Friday (26/6). According to Achmadi, the decision also considered the alleged severe abuse accompanied by prolonged confinement, as well as the victim’s need for physical and psychological recovery during the law enforcement process. Since the emergency protection was granted, LPSK has moved quickly by conducting an assessment at the scene, taking statements from family and witnesses, and coordinating with Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital, the West Java Regional Police, and the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) of West Java Province. LPSK Deputy Chairperson Sri Suparyati revealed that the agency has so far received six protection requests submitted by the victim, family members, and witnesses related to this case. These requests cover various rights, including the fulfilment of procedural rights during the legal process, legal assistance, medical services, psychological services, psychosocial support, restitution, and protection for witnesses so they can testify safely. “Therefore, in addition to ensuring the fulfilment of the victim’s rights to medical and psychological rehabilitation services, LPSK will continue to oversee the fulfilment of all the victim’s rights throughout the legal process,” Sri said. Sri added that LPSK continues to coordinate with the hospital, law enforcement officials, and relevant agencies to ensure the victim’s recovery process proceeds optimally from medical, psychological, and social aspects, in tandem with the ongoing investigation by the West Java Regional Police. A man named Taufik Hidayat was previously named a suspect in the case of alleged false imprisonment and severe abuse against YTR. The tragic incident is believed to have occurred over a period of approximately three years at a boarding house in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency. As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries that caused visual impairment, speech difficulties, and an inability to walk normally.
