LPSK Grants Protection to Ferry Boboho, Key Witness in Febrie Adriansyah Case

The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has granted protection to Ferry “Boboho” Hongkiriwang (FH), a key witness in the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (JAM-Pidsus) Febrie Adriansyah.

The decision to grant protection was ratified through the LPSK Leadership Council Session (SMPL) on 18 August 2026. The move was taken after considering the importance of the witness’s testimony, potential threats, and the profile of the party facing legal proceedings.

“Mr FH has fulfilled the requirements to receive protection. We made this decision based on an assessment considering the special circumstances of the case, the seriousness of the criminal acts under investigation, and the potential threat to the person concerned,” said LPSK Deputy Chairperson Susilaningtias in a statement on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

Susi revealed that FH possesses crucial information related to the Asabri-Jiwasraya case, which has been conveyed to the Attorney General’s Office and other law enforcement agencies. During the assessment process, FH was deemed highly cooperative in providing testimony.

Although the assessment results showed no physical threat is currently apparent, LPSK considers the potential threat to the witness to remain high given the profile of the suspected perpetrator, who once held an important position and power within a law enforcement institution.

“This case involves corruption and money laundering. Both are serious criminal offences. We also looked at the profiling of the perpetrator, because the person concerned once held office and possessed power. That formed part of LPSK’s considerations,” Susi explained.

The granting of protection refers to Law Number 3 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims, as well as Article 53 paragraph (4) of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). Previously, the Attorney General’s Office had coordinated and submitted a request for protection for witness FH on 30 July 2026.

As an initial step, LPSK had provided emergency protection before ultimately deciding to grant a full protection programme.

The forms of protection provided include fulfilment of the witness’s procedural rights, accompaniment during the legal examination process, and periodic monitoring to ensure the physical and mental safety of the witness so that the case disclosure process proceeds smoothly.
