LPSK Grants Emergency Protection to Bandung Confinement Victim
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has provided emergency protection to a victim of alleged confinement and torture by a suspect named Taufik Hidayat in Cinunuk, Bandung Regency, West Java. “As of today, we have issued an emergency protection report,” said LPSK Deputy Chair Wawan Fahrudin in Jakarta on Tuesday. Wawan expressed concern over the tragedy, stating that the three-year ordeal, which reportedly occurred within a romantic relationship, was inhumane. The LPSK has scheduled a coordination meeting with the medical team at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) Bandung on Tuesday to assess the victim’s medical needs. The agency will also coordinate with the West Java Provincial Government to share responsibilities in accordance with Law Number 3 of 2026 on the Protection of Witnesses and Victims. “This new law includes a role for regional governments, allowing us to share tasks in terms of policy and budgeting for recovery efforts,” Wawan explained. He also commended West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi and his administration for their attention to the case. Governor Dedi Mulyadi earlier announced on his personal Instagram account a reward of Rp250 million for any citizen who provides information leading to the arrest of Taufik Hidayat. The West Java Regional Police stated on Tuesday that they will soon issue a wanted list for the suspect and are collaborating with technology company Meta to trace his digital footprint.
