LPSK Expands Digital Access for Witness Protection Services via Simpusaka
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is expanding its protection services through the Simpusaka application to facilitate public access. The digital platform allows people across all regions to apply for protection online and monitor the progress of their cases through the system provided by LPSK.
During a hearing with House of Representatives Commission XIII at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, LPSK Deputy Chairperson Sri Suparyati stated that Simpusaka has recorded 12,628 applicants spread across all provinces in Indonesia. Based on data collected through the system, West Java is the province with the highest number of applications, followed by DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, and Banten.
Sri explained that the system enables applicants to directly track the status of their applications, from the review stage to the decision on whether the application can proceed. In addition to strengthening digital services, LPSK is developing a database that includes applicant profiles based on gender, age, disability status, type of crime, legal status, occupation, education, and citizenship. She noted that this data collection helps determine the appropriate form of protection and recovery services required, including the calculation of restitution.
LPSK is also giving special attention to applicants with disabilities by providing a separate category in the system to ensure their protection needs are prioritised. Data from Simpusaka indicates that money laundering cases account for the highest number of protection requests, followed by other life-threatening crimes, gross human rights violations, corruption, terrorism, human trafficking, narcotics offences, torture, and sexual violence.
Sri clarified that protection requests can be submitted not only by victims or witnesses themselves but also through legal counsel, family members, law enforcement officials, or judges. In addition to the Simpusaka application, the public can access LPSK services directly at its head office and representative offices, via post, electronic mail, WhatsApp, and the call centre at 150148. She emphasised that all these channels are provided to reach and make it easier for applicants to access witness and victim protection.
During the hearing, House of Representatives Commission XIII also acknowledged the realisation of LPSK’s 2025 fiscal year budget, which reached Rp218.07 billion, or 94.85 per cent of the Rp229.91 billion ceiling. The spending was supported by employee expenditure realisation of 98.66 per cent, goods expenditure of 94.41 per cent, and capital expenditure of 91.54 per cent, which was deemed to support the implementation of witness and victim protection duties.
