The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is strengthening its protection efforts for the victim of an alleged criminal act of sexual violence (TPKS) at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (FH UI). This is to ensure that the victim feels brave to report and obtains their rights in the legal process.

“LPSK is ready to provide protection and accompaniment to victims in digital-based sexual violence cases. We ensure that victims feel safe, including in facing potential pressure, threats, or concerns over the disclosure of their identity,” said Susilaningtyas on Friday (14/4/2026).

She explained that LPSK has the authority to provide protection without waiting for a request, as long as there is an urgent need and the victim’s consent.

The forms of protection prepared include security guarantees, psychological recovery, legal accompaniment, and fulfilment of the victim’s procedural rights.

“We see vulnerabilities that need to be addressed from the start. Therefore, LPSK takes a proactive approach to ensure victims understand their rights and have access to protection,” she said.

“That condition can affect the victim’s courage to continue the legal process,” she added.

According to Susilaningtyas, barriers in sexual violence cases are not only in proving the case but also in the psychological and social factors faced by victims.

“Protection is important so that victims do not face additional risks when considering or undergoing the legal process,” she stated.

In the legal context, Law No. 12 of 2022 on TPKS stipulates that sexual violence is not only physical but also non-physical, including statements, comments, or actions with sexual nuances through electronic media that cause discomfort or intimidation.

LPSK assesses that the practice of spreading comments or content without permission through digital groups in this case potentially meets criminal elements, either as non-physical sexual harassment or electronic-based sexual violence.

On the other hand, handling at the campus level is carried out through the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS), as well as providing counselling services for victims.

However, limitations in service capacity are seen to still require external support.

LPSK emphasises that it will continue to coordinate with various parties, including the victim’s legal representatives and educational institutions, to ensure protection runs effectively and sustainably.

This step is deemed important to create a sense of safety for victims, while ensuring the legal process can proceed without pressure, so that victims’ rights can be fulfilled fairly.
