LPSK Decides to Protect Victim, Witness, and Family of Activist in Acid Attack Case

Jakarta – The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has approved a request for comprehensive protection for KontraS activist Andrie Yunus (AY) as a victim, witness RF, and AY’s family in an acid attack case. The protection decision was made at the LPSK Leadership Board Session on 16 March 2026.

LPSK provided emergency protection to the protected individual from 13 to 16 March 2026, including medical assistance and physical security through close protection at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).

“With the approval of this request, the victim, witness, and victim’s family now receive comprehensive protection programmes from LPSK,” said LPSK Chair Achmadi in a statement on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

LPSK determined that the victim, witness, and family in this case require protection to guarantee their safety and ensure that the legal process can proceed without pressure. LPSK decided to provide protection to AY as a victim in the form of physical protection through close security, medical assistance facilitation, and procedural rights fulfilment during the legal proceedings.

“In this decision, LPSK also provides assistance and/or protection to the victim’s family and protection to related witnesses,” Achmadi stated.

The protection provided to victim AY includes physical protection through close security, procedural rights fulfilment in the judicial process, and medical assistance in the form of regular medical care.
