LPSK Coordinates with Metro Jaya Police on Sutrimo Death Case
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) says it is coordinating with the Polda Metro Jaya regional police regarding the death of a man named Sutrimo at the Mordent Clinic in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
LPSK Deputy Chairwoman Susilaningtias said the coordination is intended to establish whether there is indeed an allegation of murder against Sutrimo or not.
She said this is also being done because Sutrimo is said to have had a relationship with the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Ardiansyah, as his head of household.
“LPSK is still awaiting further information from investigators on whether there is indeed a criminal element or not,” she told reporters on Wednesday (29 July).
“If this is indeed a murder, then we also need to examine further whether this murder stands alone or is connected to the money laundering (TPPU) case currently under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office,” she added.
Susi said her agency stands ready to provide protection to witnesses and Sutrimo’s family should a criminal element be found by investigators.
“The victim’s family also has the right to restitution, compensation for instance, or to be given psychological recovery if needed,” she explained.
On the other hand, she said, if Sutrimo’s case is connected to the corruption disclosure process being carried out by the Attorney General’s Office, LPSK will proactively provide protection to other witnesses.
“If this is indeed part of the corruption case, then if there are threats, other witnesses could also potentially face threats to their lives. In relation to that, LPSK is certainly ready to provide protection,” she said.
Previously, a man named Sutrimo died last Thursday (23 July). Sutrimo was found unconscious in the grounds of the Mordent Clinic in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, and was then taken by ambulance to RS Muhammadiyah Taman Puring hospital.
“The hospital explained that Sutrimo arrived already deceased,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations Kombes Budi Hermanto in a written statement on Sunday (26 July).
Budi said investigators are currently gathering evidence and carrying out clarification with the family, the ambulance driver, hospital staff, and other parties with knowledge of the incident.
The victim is said to have been the head of household (Karumga) for former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah of the Attorney General’s Office.
CNNIndonesia.com contacted Febri Diansyah as Febrie Adriansyah’s legal counsel to confirm the information, but there has been no response. Meanwhile, Budi said his office is still investigating the victim’s background.
“It is still being looked into,” Budi said.
