The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has stated that since 2025 it has separated the management and bookkeeping of conventional and sharia financial systems to maintain public trust.

“LPS does not only regulate, but also implements directly to maintain the trust of all stakeholders and the public regarding the sharia ecosystem,” said Farid Azhar Nasution, Deputy Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to him, since 2025 LPS has separated the conventional-based and sharia-based financial ecosystems, so that all can receive protection in accordance with what is desired.

Farid emphasised that LPS also ensures all customer funds in banking, both conventional and sharia, so that the public is expected to feel secure.

In addition, Farid said, the premiums paid by banks to LPS are also separated according to the system they operate.

“So since 2025 we have separated the bookkeeping and management of which is sharia and which is conventional,” he said when speaking at the 2026 Sharia Financial Expo and Seminar (Eksis) organised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Farid stressed that LPS does not only ask the industry and the public to trust the sharia economy and ecosystem, but directly proves it.

Because, Farid said, in the sharia economic ecosystem everyone can receive protection, as the system avoids uncertainty.

“LPS does not only ask the industry and the public to believe in the sharia economy and financial ecosystem, we also prove it first,” he added.
