LPS Ready to Build Its Own Headquarters, Completion in Two Years
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan (LPS) wants to build its own office. Chairman Anggito of the LPS Board of Commissioners said that currently the LPS office shares space with other financial institutions such as the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI) as well as the Joint Steering Committee for the Stabilisation of the Financial System (KSSK).
“So we have been mandated to build our own office,” he said during a Public Hearing with Commission XI at the DPR RI building in Jakarta, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
He hopes it can be realised within one year or two years ahead. “Of course we will support OJK because OJK also needs to have its own building and we are in the process of finalising the location and other matters,” he added.
In addition, Anggito also proposed constructing a representative office in Jakarta. The consideration of building a headquarters located in the capital is to coordinate operational functions in the Jakarta area and its surrounding.
“Because the coordination of field operational functions, especially for Banten, West Java, Central Java and DIY, has not existed; now it is all handled by the centre,” Anggito explained. He noted LPS representative offices are currently in Medan, Makassar and Surabaya.
He explained that the presence of LPS representative offices in a region depends heavily on the number of BPRs, particularly the number of banking cases that arise in a region.
“So if we look at where the cases are most numerous now, West Java has the most cases there and North Sumatra; West [Java] is quite high, so we will make it effective,” he said, adding “so we will consult on opening a representative office in Jakarta with a region extending to West Java, Central Java and DIY. The office model will be roughly the same; only the mandate and operations will be those of a representative office,” he concluded.
