The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has raised the guaranteed interest rate (TBP) for rupiah deposits at commercial banks and rural banks (BPR). The increase is 25 basis points (bps) each, bringing the rate to 3.75 per cent for commercial banks and 6.25 per cent for BPR. LPS Board of Commissioners Chairman Anggito Abimanyu stated that the TBP for foreign currency deposits at commercial banks has been kept at 2 per cent. The decision was based on an evaluation by the LPS Board of Commissioners during a meeting on Monday, 22 June 2026. The new TBP will be effective from 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026. ‘This TBP adjustment is an anticipatory step to maintain the credibility of the guarantee interest rate as a benchmark for fair interest rates in the banking sector,’ Anggito said during a press teleconference on Thursday, 25 June 2026. ‘It also aims to enhance the effectiveness of the deposit guarantee programme policy.’ Anggito added that the TBP will be evaluated periodically and can be adjusted at any time should there be significant changes in economic, financial market, or banking conditions. ‘This step reflects LPS’s commitment to maintaining public trust and strengthening banking stability,’ he said.
