Yogyakarta — The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has partnered with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to develop financial sector talent through programmes including research, internships, scholarships, and educational infrastructure support.

LPS Board of Commissioners Chairman Anggito Abimanyu stated that the collaboration represents implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in December 2025.

“We are keen to improve financial literacy. If necessary, there should be specialised courses on deposit insurance, banking, or insurance resolution,” said Anggito following the signing of the collaboration agreement at UGM’s Innovation and Creativity Arena (GIK) in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Friday.

Anggito explained that the partnership with UGM is part of LPS’s broader programme being implemented with 12 higher education institutions across Indonesia.

The programme is directed at supporting educational activities, research, and human resource development relevant to LPS’s duties and functions, involving several state universities across various regions.

“Essentially, anything that supports teaching and learning activities or activities directly related to LPS,” he said.

He added that through this collaboration, LPS hopes students will develop adequate understanding of the financial sector and be interested in pursuing careers at LPS.

“Hopefully, some of them will work at LPS,” Anggito said.

Meanwhile, UGM Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation Danang Sri Hadmoko stated that the partnership with LPS provides tangible benefits for strengthening learning facilities on campus.

One such benefit includes support for 60 computer units for UGM’s Vocational School.

Danang noted that beyond infrastructure support, the collaboration also includes internship programmes, scholarships, and research initiatives, which are considered important in preparing students for entering the workforce, particularly in the financial sector.

“The university’s role is to produce talent. We invite strategic partners to invest in talent development, so that students are exposed to the working world from the outset, and when they graduate, they already possess skills, mindset, and corporate culture,” he said.
