LPS Hikes Guaranteed Interest Rate for Commercial Banks to 3.75%
The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has agreed to raise the guaranteed interest rate (TBP) to 3.75% for rupiah deposits in commercial banks. This sudden increase in the TBP is effective for the period from 1 July to 30 September 2026.
During the Board of Commissioners Meeting in June 2026, the LPS also set the TBP for foreign currency deposits at 2.00%. The LPS also raised the TBP for rupiah savings at People’s Economy Banks (BPR) to 6.25%.
“This adjustment of the TBP is an anticipatory measure to maintain the credibility of the guarantee interest rate as a benchmark for fair interest rates in banking, while also increasing the effectiveness of the deposit guarantee programme policy,” said LPS Board of Commissioners Chairman Anggito Abimanyu during a virtual press conference on the determination of the ad-hoc TBP period on Thursday (25/6/2026).
Anggito added that this TBP will be evaluated periodically and can be adjusted at any time should there be significant changes in economic, financial market, and banking conditions. “This step is LPS’s commitment to maintaining public trust and strengthening banking stability,” Anggito said.
