The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Anggito Abimanyu, has revealed that 100 Rural Banks (BPR) will participate in a pilot project for the provision of information technology (IT) systems in 202<0xA0>27.

Anggito stated that the process for providing IT for BPRs is currently underway and the core system design has been completed. He also noted that communications have been established with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to facilitate the implementation of this process.

“It is in progress; the design has been created. We have also discussed this with the OJK. We will begin with the planning phase first, and will proceed with the pilot in 2027,” Anggito said when met by reporters at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday (21/09/2026).

The LPS Chairman disclosed that approximately 100 BPRs are currently involved in the testing phase for this IT provision.

“There are about 100, if I am not mistaken,” he asserted.

The BPR IT provision programme was previously initiated by the LPS in 2025, with an allocated budget of approximately Rp150 billion.

This IT provision is also regulated under OJK Regulation Number 34 of 2025 regarding the implementation of information technology by BPR and Sharia BPR.

To support business processes and operational activities in order to improve banking services to the public, an enhancement in the use of information technology by BPR and Sharia BPR is required.

Furthermore, to reduce potential risks related to the use of information technology, it is necessary to strengthen regulations regarding governance, risk management, as well as cyber resilience and security in IT implementation. Consequently, Financial Services Authority Regulation Number 75/POJK.03/2016 concerning IT Implementation Standards for BPR and Sharia BPR needs to be replaced.
