The Indonesian Construction Services Development Agency (LPJK) has visited the Guangdong Jianke Research and Development Centre in Huangpu, China, to study advanced construction methods that are more integrated and possess the sophisticated technology required to face an increasingly complex future.

“We reviewed several of the leading research facilities owned by Guangdong Jianke as an effort to strengthen domestic construction,” said the Chairman of LPJK, Insannul Kamil, in Jakarta on Sunday.

Insannul Kamil, accompanied by a delegation from the Department of Public Works and Transport of Laos, the Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning, and representatives from China Construction News, participated in the visit and information exchange.

The delegation visited a wind tunnel laboratory for civil engineering, which is one of the largest and most comprehensive scales in China.

Furthermore, LPJK inspected a large-scale, independently developed multifunctional curtain wall testing facility, as well as a pilot laboratory for testing advanced construction materials integrated with smart technology.

Insannul, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) for Human Resources Development Cooperation in Engineering and Industrial Professions, assessed that the research progress developed by Guangdong Jianke could serve as a reference for strengthening the construction industry within the ASEAN region.

According to him, current developments in construction technology demand closer collaboration between research institutions, industry, and the government to sustainably enhance the competitiveness of the construction sector.

“The research activities and advancements in the field of civil engineering conducted at this research centre must be utilised,” he said.

This research progress is intended to serve as a collaborative model to collectively improve the quality and ecosystem of the construction industry, as well as construction management and facilities sustainably, with high-level safety standards.

The Chairman of the Mechanical Expertise Body of the Association of Indonesian Engineers (PII) added that the utilisation of cutting-edge technology is a key factor in addressing the challenges of increasingly complex future infrastructure development.

According to the lecturer from the Faculty of Engineering at Andalas University, the visit is also part of an effort to strengthen knowledge exchange and international cooperation in the field of construction, particularly in technology development, safety standards, and the enhancement of construction human resource competence within the Asian region.
