Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Youth Circle (LPI) supports President Prabowo Subianto’s move to reshuffle the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), viewing it as a strong signal that the government is responsive to public feedback.

“The change in leadership at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is the right step to save a national priority programme, namely the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG),” said the Executive Director of the Indonesian Youth Circle, Akhrom Saleh, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, President Prabowo’s action demonstrates the integrity of state programmes over personal or group interests. “This is good news for the public, showing that aspirations voiced by youth groups and civil elements are truly heard and acted upon,” he added.

LPI noted that public criticism towards the BGN has accumulated over recent months. These criticisms include concerns regarding impractical projects during periods of national budget efficiency, management issues within the MBG kitchen units or Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), and allegations regarding the trading of SPPG locations. Furthermore, controversial statements made by previous BGN leaders have been noted as significant issues that could no longer be ignored.

Saleh believes President Prabowo has effectively exercised his oversight function by conducting audits and performance evaluations of several BGN leaders. He noted a commitment to improving governance to ensure the Free Nutritious Meal programme is not only operational but also targeted, high-quality, and accountable.

“With the replacement of the BGN leadership, we hope that professionalism and transparency can be restored immediately,” he said.

Additionally, LPI is optimistic that the Free Nutritious Meal programme will significantly improve under the leadership of Nanik S. Deyang, the newly appointed Head of the BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. LPI urged the new leadership to take concrete steps, particularly regarding budget transparency, to ensure every rupiah allocated from the State Budget (APBN) for the nutrition programme is accountable.

LPI emphasised that it will continue to monitor this national priority programme and remain a critical partner to the government.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto removed Dadan Hindayana as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), effective from 2 June 2026. The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, who also serves as the Presidential Spokesperson, announced the removal during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Tuesday night.

“On this Tuesday, 2 June 2026, the President has made the decision to change the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency,” said Prasetyo.
