BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat (JBB) has assured that the supply and distribution of LPG gas to the public remains safe following the fire incident at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) in Cimuning, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi City.

“We convey that with this incident, the LPG supply to residents is not disrupted, especially for the areas covered by this SPBE, which includes around three regions,” said Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Regional JBB, Susanto August Satria, to media personnel near the Cimuning SPBE on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Susanto explained that the Cimuning SPBE is a Pertamina partner managed by a private entity and has been operational since 2009, when the surrounding environment was not as dense as it is now.

On the other hand, Pertamina expressed apologies for the fire incident at the Cimuning SPBE, which destroyed several residents’ homes near the location.

“First, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Barat, along with the SPBE party, apologises for the incident that occurred. Our current focus is on handling and ensuring that there is no further widespread impact,” said Susanto.

Pertamina assured that it will take full responsibility for the victims and residents affected by the fire.

“Certainly, we have coordinated with the SPBE party that for post-incident handling, especially for the affected victims and surrounding residents, it will be the full responsibility,” said Susanto.

He emphasised that all medical treatment costs for the victims will be covered by the company.

In addition to handling the victims, Pertamina will also provide compensation to residents whose homes were damaged.

Data collection will be carried out together with local government, from RT and RW levels to the sub-district, to ensure the number and extent of the damage.

To date, the cause of the fire is not yet known as it is still under investigation by the authorities.

“For the chronology, we cannot confirm yet, as we still need to obtain statements from witnesses and related parties at the location,” said Susanto.

Previously reported, a major fire struck the Cimuning SPBE on Wednesday night (1/4/2026), with the affected area reaching around 2,000 square metres.

“The burnt land is around 2,000 square metres. Preliminary suspicion is due to an electrical short circuit,” said Acting Head of the Bekasi City Fire and Rescue Department (Disdamkarmat), Heryanto.

Heryanto explained that the extinguishing process faced challenges because the fire involved gas, which requires special handling.

“Gas like this needs special handling and must be mapped where the fire points are,” he said.
