The West Java Regional Police’s Ditreskrimsus has dismantled criminal activities involving LPG adulteration and modifications to fuel tanks across several areas in West Java from January to April 2026. As a result, the state suffered losses of Rp19 billion.

The cases occurred in Bandung Regency, Indramayu Regency, Cimahi City, Sukabumi, Bogor, and Sumedang regencies. A total of 3,206 LPG cylinders ranging from 3 kilograms to 12 kilograms were seized, including 2,429 subsidised 3-kilogram cylinders.

From 17 cases handled, authorities secured 31 suspects. ‘We have 31 suspects,’ he said at the West Java Police Headquarters on Wednesday 13 May 2026.

He said some cases were still under investigation while others had progressed to the stage of handing over files and suspects to the public prosecutor. In total, the confiscated LPG cylinders ranged from 3 to 12 kg, amounting to 3,206 cylinders, along with 10,800 litres of diesel and 472 litres of Pertalite.

Authorities secured evidence including counterfeit license plates to obtain Pertamina barcodes and LPG injection devices. The perpetrators’ motive was to obtain profit through illegal means.
