Karangasem Police have uncovered a case of adulteration of subsidised 3 kilogram (kg) LPG gas in Subagan Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali. In the case, police secured 10 suspects along with 1,788 gas cylinders of various sizes as evidence.

The revelation of the case was announced during a press conference held at the Kanya Badra Hall of Karangasem Police Headquarters on Friday (8/5/2026). Karangasem Police Chief, I Made Santika, stated that the case’s uncovering stemmed from a public report regarding suspicious activities at a warehouse in Banjar Desa, Subagan Village.

“In this case, we managed to secure 10 perpetrators with different roles. From business owners, those responsible, adulterators, drivers, to gas porters,” said Santika on Friday (8/5/2026).

In addition to securing the perpetrators, police also confiscated 1,788 gas cylinders ranging from 3 kg, 5.5 kg, 12 kg, and 50 kg sizes. As well as equipment used for adulteration, digital scales, up to a truck used to transport gas cylinders to several regions, even outside Bali.

The suspects are charged under Article 55 of Law No. 22 of 2001 on Oil and Earth Gas as amended in the Job Creation Law. All suspects face a maximum prison sentence of six years and fines up to Rp60 billion.

“I urge the public not to hesitate to report to Karangasem Police if they find or see suspicious things or activities occurring in their respective areas,” urged Santika.
