The price of 12-kilogram (kg) LPG has risen in several regions. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia responded to the increase. Quoting detikFinance, Bahlil emphasised that 12 kg LPG is indeed intended for capable citizens. Therefore, price adjustments are not considered a major issue. “I want to ask, if non-subsidised is for the rich or for the poor? Well, for those who can afford it. That’s how it is, boss; the state is present to help all citizens, but the priority is for our brothers and sisters who are unable. If they can afford it, they should contribute to mutual help, that’s all,” Bahlil said when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta. On the other hand, the government assures that the price of 3 kg LPG will not increase. That policy, according to Bahlil, is a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto. “The subsidised one remains (3 kg LPG). I can only guarantee the subsidised price because it is the president’s order and also the regulation. So that’s it,” Bahlil explained. Bahlil also reminded capable citizens not to use 3 kg LPG intended for the less fortunate. “So if, for example, rich people, should someone with income above Rp 500 million per month be told to use 3 kg LPG? Sorry, yeah,” he said. Bahlil added that LPG stocks are currently in a safe condition, although Indonesia’s LPG needs still largely depend on imports. “Alhamdulillah, we with Pertamina, with us at ESDM and all stakeholders always consolidate to find the best alternatives. And now our LPG position is above the national minimum standard. So insyaallah clear,” Bahlil stated.
