Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, has opened access to the Canadian market for seven small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Through the Export Market Access programme, the seven SMEs secured export contracts worth US$190,000, which were signed on 11 March 2026.

Maria Sidabutar, Head of the Consulting Services Division at Indonesia Eximbank, stated that the programme provides end-to-end assistance for SMEs. This support ranges from product curation, quality and packaging improvement, and meeting export standards, to business matching and facilitating international market access.

The seven SMEs are PT Kultiva, CV Menara Desa, PT Wins Organic, PT Anak Garuda Sejahtera, PT Indo Tropikal, CV Dua Sholeha, and PT Azaki International. Their products marketed to Canada include ready-to-eat processed tempeh, coconut sugar and palm sugar, ginger candies, fried onions, and fruit chips. As of 12 June 2026, six of the SMEs had realised product shipments valued at US$170,000, with the remaining shipment from PT Azaki International, worth US$20,000, scheduled for July 2026.

Trade Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa, Mahdewi Silky, noted that Indonesian food products, particularly healthy snacks, organic goods, and tropical fruit chips, have received a positive response in the Canadian market. This is reflected in the export value of Indonesian processed food under HS codes 16-21 to Canada, which surged by 106.85 percent from US$56.35 million in 2023 to US$116.56 million in 2025.

The collaboration between Indonesia Eximbank and the Ministry of Trade is continuing with a second phase of market access expansion, which began on 12 May 2026. This phase involves 12 curated export-oriented SMEs, whose product samples—including biscuits, skin crackers, spices, gluten-free snacks, ready-to-drink beverages, and candies—have been sent to potential buyers in Canada. Indonesia Eximbank reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa to expand market access for SMEs, enhance the competitiveness of national products, and foster new exporters to contribute to export growth.
