LPEI Programme Yields Rp3.4 Billion in SME Export Contracts to Canada
A market access expansion programme from the Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI), or Indonesia Eximbank, has generated export contracts to Canada worth 190,000 US dollars, or Rp3.4 billion, for seven small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The programme is a collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade and the Trade Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa. “This export release is tangible proof that Indonesian SMEs are capable of penetrating the global market when supported by the right ecosystem,” said LPEI Head of Consulting Services Division Maria Sidabutar in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday. The seven SMEs are PT Kultiva, CV Menara Desa, PT Wins Organic, PT Anak Garuda Sejahtera, PT Indo Tropikal, CV Dua Sholeha, and PT Azaki International. As of 12 June 2026, six SMEs have realised product shipments with a total value of 170,000 US dollars, while PT Azaki International’s shipment worth 20,000 US dollars is scheduled for July 2026. Products exported include ready-to-eat processed tempeh, coconut sugar and palm sugar, ginger sweets, fried shallots, and fruit crisps. Trade Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa Mahdewi Silky stated that Canada remains a promising market for healthy food products, organic products, and tropical fruit-based products from Indonesia. Indonesian products have received a positive response from the Canadian market, particularly for banana chips, mango-based processed products, and mango raw materials which have potential in the Canadian market. This positive trend is reflected in the export value of Indonesian processed food products under HS codes 16–21 to Canada, which increased significantly from 56.35 million US dollars in 2023 to 116.56 million US dollars in 2025, representing a growth of 106.85 percent over the last two years. “The increase in exports of Indonesian processed food products to Canada over the last two years shows that the Canadian market opportunity for Indonesian value-added products remains very large,” she said. The synergy continues through a second market access expansion activity to Canada on 12 May 2026, involving 12 export-oriented SMEs that have passed the curation process. Currently, product samples from the SMEs have been sent to prospective buyers in Canada. The products introduced cover various food and beverage categories, including biscuits, skin crisps, spices, gluten-free snacks, ready-to-drink beverages, and sweets. In addition to providing mentoring and market access facilitation, LPEI also provides support in the form of facilities for shipping product samples to Canada. These samples will be evaluated by prospective buyers as part of the process of exploring and developing sustainable trade cooperation.
