JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of the Legal and Communications Division of LPDP, Lukmanul Hakim, has explained the involvement of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the pre-departure briefing for LPDP scholarship recipients, held at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base (Lanud), Jakarta, from Monday (4/5/2026) to Saturday (9/5/2026).

Lukmanul emphasised that military involvement in this programme is not new, but rather a continuation of previously established strategic cooperation.

“Regarding the location of implementation, the Pre-Departure Preparation (PK) held at Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma is not the first time it has been conducted in cooperation with TNI,” said Lukmanul, when confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday.

He stated that every implementation of Pre-Departure Preparation (PK) is comprehensively evaluated as a basis for improvements and refinements in the execution of PK for subsequent batches.

LPDP will also conduct an evaluation after the PK at Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma.

The evaluation covers aspects of planning, execution, materials, activity methods, as well as input from scholarship recipients.

“This serves as the basis for refining the design and execution of future PK to be increasingly adaptive to the needs of awardees,” he said.

Lukmanul conveyed that the PK activity has been conducted since the inception of the LPDP scholarship programme and is an important part in ensuring the readiness of scholarship recipients, both academically and non-academically.

“LPDP continuously organises PK as part of the initial training for scholarship recipients before commencing their studies,” he stated.

He explained that PK aims to equip scholarship recipients with character strengthening, national values, leadership, ethics, as well as mental and social readiness.

Thus, awardees can undertake their studies optimally and responsibly as recipients of state scholarships.

This programme is attended by prospective and current LPDP scholarship recipients at the master’s (S2) and doctoral (S3) levels, both for studies in Indonesia and abroad.

“As part of the pre-study briefing,” said Nyoman, to Kompas.com on Monday.

In this programme, participants receive materials focused on strengthening mental readiness, discipline, leadership, as well as instilling love for the homeland and character building.
