Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) is inviting Indonesian researchers to optimise the utilisation of the Rp13.9 trillion research endowment to promote innovations that have a real impact on the advancement of the national industry.

LPDP’s Director of Research Facilitation, Ayom Widipaminto, revealed that the current research budget availability is still more than sufficient to support various strategic projects.

“At present, our research endowment stands at Rp13.99 trillion, and each year there is a fairly flexible fund of Rp900 billion with a balance exceeding Rp2 trillion. We can optimise and utilise it to the maximum,” said Ayom during the Kick Off event for the Bestari Saintek Programme and the Launch of the Semesta Programme under the 2026 State Budget Funding Scheme in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Although since 2013 LPDP has funded more than 3,300 research projects with a total of Rp3 trillion, Ayom noted that access to this funding has only been enjoyed by around 17,000 researchers across Indonesia.

This situation, he continued, is prompting LPDP to continue expanding the reach of funding access so that the state-managed endowment fund can truly be felt in a sustainable manner by lecturers and industry partners.

“We at LPDP offer flexibility, both in terms of the budget year, funding standards, and we have simplified the reporting,” Ayom stated.

However, Ayom reminded that this flexibility and bureaucratic ease must be accompanied by increased trust in the output or results of the research produced by the researchers.

It is known that LPDP is now emphasising the transformation of the industrial research paradigm, which should not end merely as a report on the table, but must have practical value for business operations.

In line with the government’s policy direction, funding focus will be directed towards specific fields that have competitive advantages, particularly in the food, health, and energy sectors.
