LPDP Simplifies English Language Requirements for Second Phase of Scholarships

The Government, through the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), is simplifying the selection requirements for the second phase of the 2026 LPDP Scholarship by easing English language proficiency provisions to broaden public access to the programme.

“What differs from the LPDP scholarship selection in this second phase is that the requirements have been simplified, particularly regarding English language proficiency,” said the Head of the LPDP Communication Sub-Division, Risqi Sita Novanti, during a discussion at the Jakarta Kreatif Festival in Jakarta on Sunday.

Risqi explained that whereas previously applicants for domestic universities were required to submit English proficiency certificates from specific institutions, the government now recognises a broader variety of certificates. “Previously, even for domestic English requirements, specific certificates were mandatory. Now, 35 different English language certificates from domestic universities are also recognised,” she stated.

Furthermore, applicants who have already secured an unconditional Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from their target university are no longer required to upload English proficiency certificates. “For holders of an unconditional letter of acceptance from universities, it is no longer necessary to submit English language requirements, applicable to both domestic and international universities,” she added.

According to Risqi, this simplification is intended to make the selection process easier without compromising the quality of the scholarship recipients. Nevertheless, the selection stages remain unchanged, consisting of administrative selection, scholastic aptitude testing, and substantive selection.

The government hopes this policy will attract more high-quality applicants who have previously been hindered by administrative requirements. Risqi also invited members of the public who require more detailed information to consult directly with officers or via official LPDP channels.

“Official and most complete information regarding scholarships, requirements, registration schedules, and LPDP guides can be accessed directly through our official channels or via our officers for further explanation,” she concluded.
