LPDP Opens Registration for 2026 Second-Period Scholarships on 30 June
The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) has officially announced that registration for the second period of its 2026 scholarship programme will open from 30 June to 31 July 2026. Speaking at a media briefing in Jakarta on Monday, LPDP President Director Yon Arsal outlined that the second period offers two main programmes: the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Strategic Industries Scholarship and the SHARE (Social, Humanities, Arts for People, Religious Studies, Economics) Scholarship. LPDP is also reopening its Acceleration Scholarship at Top Universities programme, along with special partnership schemes such as the Sports Scholarship and the National Research and Innovation Talent Scholarship via the Doctor by Research pathway. He explained that the STEM Strategic Industries scholarship covers sectors including food, energy, defence, digitalisation—encompassing artificial intelligence and semiconductors—health, downstream processing, maritime, advanced manufacturing and materials, as well as entrepreneurship and the creative industries. Yon Arsal stressed that the SHARE field remains an important component in strengthening social, public policy, economic, cultural, educational, and religious aspects that underpin national development. He revealed that at least 80 per cent of scholarship allocations are focused on STEM and strategic industry-related fields, while a maximum of 20 per cent is allocated to SHARE as part of holistic and sustainable human development. “Our STEM increase continues to move; in 2025 it was 66 to 69 per cent, and in 2026 it is at 74 per cent. We will try to reach at least 80 per cent for STEM and STEM-related fields,” he said. LPDP Scholarship Director Dwi Larso explained that there are many changes to the requirements that benefit applicants. Broadly speaking, there are relaxations regarding foreign language test results and official Letters of Acceptance, details of which can be found on the official LPDP website. “The LPDP Scholarship is open to all eligible Indonesian citizens. Registration for the second period of the 2026 LPDP Scholarship can be done through the official LPDP website according to the established schedule and requirements,” she said. LPDP currently manages an accumulated education endowment fund of Rp180.81 trillion as of 31 May 2026. This fund serves as the foundation for the government’s sustainable investment in developing Indonesia’s human resources. Since commencing operations in 2013 through May 2026, LPDP has produced 58,749 scholarship awardees across master’s, doctoral, specialist doctor, and non-degree programmes. Of that total, 34,334 have become alumni, while 18,728 are still pursuing their studies at various domestic and international universities.
