The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) is involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the Pre-Departure Preparation (PK) activities for scholarship recipients. LPDP states that the pre-departure preparation is not a new initiative.

“LPDP continuously organises Pre-Departure Preparation (PK) as part of the initial training for scholarship recipients before commencing their studies. This PK activity has been conducted since the LPDP scholarship programme was launched and is an important component in ensuring the readiness of scholarship recipients, both academically and non-academically,” said Head of the Legal and Communications Division of LPDP, M Lukmanul Hakim, when contacted on Monday (4/5/2026).

He explained that PK aims to equip scholarship recipients with character building and national values. He hopes the activity will enable recipients or awardees to pursue their studies responsibly.

“PK aims to equip scholarship recipients with character strengthening, national values, leadership, ethics, as well as mental and social readiness, so that awardees can undertake their study period optimally and responsibly as recipients of state scholarships,” he stated.

He noted that PK activities involve relevant speakers for delivering materials and outdoor activities. He said the outdoor activities are designed to train discipline.

“PK is carried out through a combination of material delivery by relevant speakers and outdoor activities. Materials are presented by speakers according to the competencies needed for the preparation, while outdoor activities are designed to train discipline, teamwork, resilience, communication, and adaptability skills relevant to study challenges and academic life,” he said.

Lukmanul stated that LPDP has established rules that must be followed by all participants, including restrictions on the use of communication devices.

“LPDP also establishes rules that must be adhered to by all participants, including regulations and restrictions on the use of communication devices. These arrangements are intended to maintain participants’ focus during the preparation series, encourage interaction and active participation in various activities, and support the creation of a conducive and effective learning atmosphere,” he said.

He added that the PK activity for LPDP scholarship recipients held this month at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in East Jakarta is not new. He said LPDP will conduct further evaluations for the next batch’s PK.

“The PK organised at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base is not the first time conducted in collaboration with the TNI. Every implementation of Pre-Departure Preparation (PK) is always evaluated comprehensively,” he said.

“LPDP will also conduct an evaluation after the PK implementation at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, covering aspects of planning, execution, materials, activity methods, and feedback from scholarship recipients, as a basis for refining the design and implementation of future PK to be increasingly adaptive to the needs of awardees,” Lukmanul added.
