JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) has reported that it has awarded scholarships to 58,444 people since the program began in 2013 until 2026.

The Director General of LPDP, Sudarto, said that this achievement is part of the government’s efforts to build superior human resources through the use of the education endowment fund.

“The scholarship distribution includes master’s, doctoral, specialist medical education, and non-degree programs,” he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Finance, Wednesday (February 25, 2026).

Based on LPDP data as of January 31, 2026, as many as 42,249 scholarship recipients are participants in the master’s program, 12,471 recipients are in the doctoral program, 3,329 recipients are in the specialist medical program, and 395 recipients are in the non-degree program.

In addition, the collaborative scholarship program with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education recorded a total of 583,171 recipients. Of this number, 26,377 recipients are participants in the degree program, while 556,794 others are participants in the non-degree program.

LPDP also recorded the distribution of collaborative scholarships with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to 42,160 recipients. In detail, as many as 12,935 recipients are participants in the degree program, while 29,225 others are in the non-degree program.

In addition to the scholarship program, LPDP also funds various research activities through the Endowment Fund for Research (DAP) and the Endowment Fund for Higher Education (DAPT).

As of 2026, LPDP has funded 3,861 research projects, with 1,920 projects completed and 1,941 projects still ongoing.

The higher education funding program also involves 23 state universities with legal entity status (PTNBH), which has produced 7,935 scientific publications, 1,849 visiting professors, 576 postdoctoral fellowship programs, and 6,800 student exchange programs during the period 2023–2026.

Meanwhile, through the Endowment Fund for Culture, LPDP has provided benefits to 3,554 recipients consisting of individuals, communities, and institutions. This program also involves around 29,619 cultural actors and 15,220 technical staff in various cultural activities.

LPDP also recorded that as many as 38,691 scholarship recipients are still active as of early 2026. This number consists of 20,162 LPDP scholarship recipients, 10,314 scholarship recipients from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and 8,215 scholarship recipients from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
