LPDP Calculates Repayment Value of Scholarship Funds from AP
The LPDP is still calculating the value of scholarship funds to be repaid by alumnus AP, the husband of DS, who has been the subject of discussion due to a post on social media.
“Regarding the (money) to be repaid, it is still being calculated. We have the data, we have the calculations,” said LPDP Director General Sudarto during a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, Wednesday evening, February 25, 2026, as reported by Antara.
Sudarto explained that AP’s study period took place from 2015–2016, which was then continued from 2017–2021. His office is still calculating the value of the education funds plus the interest that has been disbursed throughout AP’s study period.
He also said that he would announce the value of the funds to be repaid later, given that this issue involves public interest.
Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that alumnus AP would return all the scholarship funds he received to the state.
“The head of LPDP has spoken with the person in question. And he seems to have agreed to return the money he used from LPDP. So, including the interest. If I put LPDP money in the bank, there would be interest, right? It’s a fair treatment,” said Purbaya in a press conference for the February 2026 edition of APBN KiTa in Jakarta, Monday, February 23, 2026.
The Minister of Finance regretted the alumnus’s attitude, which he considered to be an insult to the country through a post on social media. He emphasized that LPDP funds come from public taxes and part of the state’s debt allocated for the development of human resources.
The polemic began with a post by DS on her personal Instagram account on Friday, February 20, 2026. In the video, she showed the British passport of her second child, who had just obtained British citizenship.
In the caption of her post, DS wrote a statement that then sparked controversy because it was considered to belittle the Indonesian passport and was deemed not to show pride as an Indonesian citizen.
