The Director General of the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP), Sudarto, stated that the amount of educational fund reimbursement for LPDP scholarship recipients who are subject to sanctions depends on the level of study they undertake.

For the master’s level, for example, the amount of fund reimbursement reaches IDR 1 billion. Meanwhile, the amount of fund reimbursement for the doctoral level is IDR 2 billion.
“This applies to those who study both domestically and abroad,” said Sudarto in a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
According to the provisions, LPDP scholarship recipients have an obligation to carry out a service period by contributing to Indonesia for twice the duration of their studies plus one year, or 2N+1. However, starting this year, LPDP is removing the additional one year, making it 2N.
Sudarto said that this service obligation is stipulated in the regulations and the Scholarship Recipient Guidelines, which are part of the agreed contract. For scholarship recipients who violate the terms, they will be subject to sanctions in the form of reimbursement of educational funds up to and including being barred from accessing LPDP programs in the future.
As of January 31, 2026, Sudarto said that LPDP has imposed sanctions in the form of fund reimbursement on 8 awardees who were found to have not fulfilled their service obligations after completing their studies. Of that number, four people have paid the penalty in full, amounting to IDR 1-2 billion.
“Of the eight people, four have already paid the full amount directly to the state. The other four have promised to pay but will do so in installments,” said Sudarto.
