Bogor Regency is strengthening the development of Sukamakmur as a new economic centre to accelerate the formation of the East Bogor Autonomous Region. This step is being taken because the Human Development Index (HDI) in the area remains at the lowest level. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto explained that Sukamakmur and Tanjungsari are the sub-districts with the lowest HDI achievements in East Bogor. “This condition indicates that the community’s access to education, health services, and purchasing power still needs to be improved,” Rudy said in his statement on Thursday (26/3/2026). Therefore, he said, his side will strengthen new growth centres by building basic infrastructure, improving connectivity, and developing economic zones based on local potential. This is to improve the overall quality of life for the people of East Bogor. According to Rudy, strengthening the regional economy is one of the important factors in raising the scoring value for the formation of the Candidate Autonomous Region (CDOB) of East Bogor. “The presence of (development of) the new economic centre is expected to open up business opportunities and employment for the local community,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Bogor Regency, Ajat Rochmat Jatnika, conveyed that the development of Sukamakmur’s economy is part of the grand strategy for preparing East Bogor as a new autonomous region. As a concrete step, the Bogor Regency Government received the handover of Infrastructure, Facilities, and Utilities (PSU) from PT Bukit Jonggol Asri (BJA) in the form of 63 hectares of land. That land will become a strategic asset for building supporting infrastructure for the Sukamakmur economic centre. In the agreement, BJA guarantees that the handed-over land is clean and clear. If disputes arise in the future, the handling will be the company’s responsibility. Through asset strengthening, infrastructure development, and the development of new economic zones, he is optimistic that East Bogor will be increasingly ready to form a new autonomous region that is independent and competitive.
