Low-cost housing put on exhibition

JAKARTA (JP): Around 25,000 visitors are expected to the first
exhibition of low-cost houses at the Tiara Graha arena at
Senayan, Central Jakarta, from Sept. 2 to Sept. 11.

"The housing exposition, designed to display houses for people
with low incomes, will be officially opened by State Minister of
Public Housing Akbar Tandjung," Djamal Pattimahu, president of PT
Citra Limapesi, the organizer of the exhibition, told reporters
here on Saturday.

Pattimahu said that the expo will be participated in by
members of the association of the Indonesian real estate housing
developers (REI) and the state-owned housing company Perum
Perumnas and the state-owned PT Bank Tabungan Negara, a provider
of mortgage facilities.

The expo will be coincide with the introduction of the 1-3-6
housing development scheme, in which developers are obliged to
construct six low-cost houses and three medium-cost houses if
they want to construct one luxury house, he said.

The expo, called the Housing Show 1994 for Low-Income People,
will also display telecommunications, electronic and automotive
