Lovina Tourist Harassment: Buleleng Police Coordinate with Taiwan Police
Buleleng Police are coordinating with the Taiwanese Police Attaché in Indonesia. The coordination follows the harassment of a Taiwanese woman (previously reported as Chinese) in the Lovina tourist area, Kalibukbuk Village, Buleleng, Bali.
The coordination was carried out by Buleleng Police to obtain information directly from the victim, as well as to ensure the tourist feels safe while in Bali.
“We have coordinated with the Taiwanese Police Attaché in Indonesia so that we can communicate directly with the victim to conduct an investigation into this incident,” said Buleleng Police Chief AKBP Ruzi Gusman on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
In addition to coordinating with the Taiwanese Police Attaché in Indonesia, police also worked together with Kalibukbuk Village officials to track down the man who harassed the Taiwanese woman.
The investigation revealed that the man is known as Wayan Sedana, alias Nane (68), a local resident. After being approached by police and Kalibukbuk Village officials, Nane admitted his wrongdoing.
Nane then stated that he would not repeat his actions. The statement was set out in a written declaration which the man has signed.
Police also confirmed that the handling of the incident was carried out as a response to circulating information and to maintain security in the Lovina tourist area.
Ruzi strongly condemned the act. According to him, the actions of an individual that make tourists feel uncomfortable have the potential to damage Bali’s image, which has long been known for the friendliness of its people.
“It is very regrettable. This is an irresponsible act that has the potential to damage the image of tourism and the hospitality of Bali, especially Lovina Beach,” Ruzi stressed.
According to him, the safety and comfort of tourists are important matters that must be safeguarded together. Moreover, Lovina is one of the tourist areas that is a destination for both domestic and international tourists.
“The police guarantee the comfort and safety of tourists who are visiting the island of Bali,” said Ruzi.
Ruzi urged the public, especially residents in tourism areas, to maintain proper conduct and respect the comfort of tourists. Hospitality towards tourists should be shown through polite interaction, without forcing physical contact or actions that could make tourists feel disturbed. The actions of one person must not be allowed to ruin the image of Balinese hospitality that has been built over many years.
As is known, the harassment experienced by the Taiwanese woman occurred while she was creating outfit of the day (OOTD) content on the roadside in the Lovina area. A local man she did not know then approached the victim.
The man initially acted friendly by offering a handshake and wishing her a happy holiday. However, the handshake went on for a long time. The Taiwanese woman then realised that the perpetrator was guiding her hand towards his genitals.
The incident went viral after the victim uploaded it to her Instagram account @aurosa_a. In the content, the victim is seen crying on her way back to her accommodation. The unpleasant incident also left her traumatised.
