Residents of Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) have complained about the noise from a local late-night entertainment venue in their neighborhood. The karaoke venue sometimes operates until dawn, disrupting the night’s rest for residents in the surrounding area.

The complaint was voiced by Husein, a resident of Kampung Sernaru, Waekelambu sub-district, Labuan Bajo, on Friday (22 May 2026). He raised the issue with the police during the “Jumat Curhat” (Friday Open Conversation) activity organised by the Sat Binmas of the Manggarai Barat Police Resort.

“We who live around the G20 karaoke place feel very disturbed. The volume is turned up too high into the early hours, sometimes even until morning. It makes it difficult for us to sleep peacefully at night,” Husein lamented.

Husein hopes the police will take firm action to regulate the activities of the entertainment venue, including checking the legality of its operating licence and crowd-control permit.

“We only want our environment to be calm again,” he added.

The Friday Open Conversation event was led by the head of Sat Binmas Manggarai Barat Police Resort, Iptu H. Juharis, and was accompanied by Ps. KBO Sat Binmas Aiptu Teguh R.I. In response to Husein’s complaint, Juharis stressed that the police would follow up seriously.

“We hear and feel the concerns of the men and women here. We will follow up this issue seriously. We will coordinate with relevant units within the Police Resort and with the Manggarai Barat Regency Government, notably Satpol PP, to conduct direct checks at the location regarding crowd-control permits and operating licences,” Juharis said.

Authorities, he said, will intensify dialogue patrols to regulate the venue’s operating hours and the volume of music in the area. He stressed that the right of the public to a calm and safe environment is a police priority.

“Every input we receive today will be forwarded to the relevant agencies so we can work together to formulate the best solution,” Juharis added.
