Lost future for Aceh's children
Lost future for Aceh's children
From Gatra
The operation to restore security in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam has begun. One of the tragic impacts has been arson, with public facilities, particularly school buildings, being burned down, allegedly by the separatist Free Aceh Movement (GAM) -- something that must be sternly dealt with.
As a consequence, children in the region cannot attend school properly, while it is now time for their final exams. Since they can no longer carry on their studies as originally planned, lots of children will suffer in future.
Therefore, I agree with the military operation in Aceh for religious reasons. Islam teaches three stages of caution. First, a verbal warning: In this case, the government's peaceful negotiations with GAM. Second, proper action, which has been carried out by launching a military operation. Third, prayers.
In my view, the entire nation is praying for the safety of the Aceh people so that they will live in peace, security and tranquility, thus enabling them to resume their activities.
