Lorry Overturns on Tomang Flyover in West Jakarta, Spilling Steel Cargo onto Road
A trailer lorry loaded with steel was involved in an accident and overturned on the Tomang Flyover in Grogol, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (24/6) at around 4.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. The head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit at Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, explained that the accident began when the trailer lorry, driven by a man with the initial B, was travelling from the Tomang Toll Gate heading west. “Upon reaching KM 13.400 A, the driver was unable to control the vehicle during a left manoeuvre while going uphill, causing the vehicle to overturn with its wheels facing north,” Reiki told reporters. As a result of the incident, the steel cargo the vehicle was carrying was scattered and fell onto the arterial road below the flyover. However, Reiki confirmed that no other road users were victims in the incident. “Alhamdulillah, there were none, nobody was hit. Only the steel was scattered, because the lorry tilted,” he said. Reiki stated that his team temporarily closed the road section around the location after the incident. The closure was carried out to facilitate the evacuation of the vehicle and the scattered cargo. “Yes, it was temporarily closed, because we needed to pull up the steel that was down there,” he said. Furthermore, Reiki mentioned that the vehicle and cargo involved in the accident have now been evacuated. He said that the traffic flow around the Tomang Flyover has returned to normal and can be used by vehicles again.
