Lorry Driver Flees After Destroying Tebet Eco Park Bus Stop, Police Launch Manhunt

Police suspect the driver of a lorry that crashed into the Tebet Eco Park bus stop in South Jakarta fled the scene. Officers are currently searching for the driver. “Personnel in the field are currently conducting an investigation, gathering evidence, including CCTV footage from around the location to identify the vehicle and pursue the lorry driver who fled,” said AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of Law Enforcement at Polda Metro Jaya, on Thursday (25/6/2026).

Ojo stated that officers are collecting a number of pieces of evidence related to the incident. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to ascertain the vehicle’s identity. “We are currently checking the CCTV,” he said.

The incident was reported to have occurred on Thursday (25/6) at around 02.50 WIB. An officer named Panji was working at the ticket counter at the time. A lorry passed through the bus stop area. All vehicles, not just the lorry, were being diverted onto the busway because resurfacing work was being carried out on the main road. A Transjakarta officer then went outside to check the situation, at which point the lorry immediately sped off.

Repairs are currently underway at the Transjakarta Tebet Eco Park bus stop, which was damaged after being hit by the lorry the previous night. “The bus stop is currently in the process of being repaired,” said Ayu Wardhani, Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department at Transjakarta, in a statement on Thursday (25/6). Despite the damage, Transjakarta confirmed that the Tebet Eco Park bus stop heading towards Pluit can still serve customers. Transjakarta also confirmed that services passing through the stop are operating normally. The Tebet Eco Park bus stop heading towards Pluit was damaged after being hit by a loaded lorry on Thursday, 25 June 2026, at 02.55 WIB. Transjakarta apologised for the inconvenience caused by the damage to the bus stop.
