Long Weekend Holiday: 11,000 Vehicles Cross Puncak This Morning
The Head of the Bogor Police Traffic Unit, Afif Widhi Ananto, stated that they implemented a one-way traffic system from Jakarta to Puncak this morning to anticipate and alleviate congestion. “Therefore, today, this morning, we implemented a one-way system from Jakarta towards Puncak at 09:00 WIB. This differs from the first day of the long weekend, where the one-way system was implemented at 07:00 WIB,” said Afif to reporters at the location on Saturday (16/5/2026).
However, the police recorded a decrease in vehicle volume this morning compared to the first day of the long weekend in Puncak, Bogor, West Java. The decrease was 11%. “If we compare it to the first day of the long weekend, Thursday, it decreased by about 11%,” he added.
The one-way system is implemented by calculating vehicle volume and monitoring the situation on the ground, so drivers who want to pass through are expected to take advantage of the implemented traffic management. “As for the one-way system in the downward direction, we implement it situationally, looking at the monitoring of vehicle flow and also monitoring on the ground,” he explained.
He urged people who want to go to Puncak to prepare their vehicles properly. Then, prepare raincoats for motorcyclists. “Currently, the area around Puncak is busy but flowing smoothly. The one-way system has been implemented since 09:00 WIB, so currently, vehicles are flowing in one direction from Jakarta to Puncak,” he said.
“As for those coming from Puncak towards Jakarta, we are still closing it. We prioritize people who want to travel from Jakarta to Puncak,” added Afif.
