JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The long weekend has driven a surge in Whoosh passenger numbers. PT KCIC recorded more than 70,000 Whoosh high-speed train tickets sold during the period of 13-16 May 2026.

General Manager of Corporate Secretary KCIC, Eva Chairunisa, said that the highest passenger volume occurred on Wednesday (13/5/2026) with a total of 21,601 passengers in one day. This number increased by around 31 per cent compared to the average daily passenger number, which is around 16,000 passengers per day.

According to her, most people took advantage of the long weekend to travel with family and relatives to various tourist destinations in Bandung and its surroundings. KCIC also recorded that as of Saturday afternoon (16/5/2026), the number of Whoosh tickets sold had reached around 11,000 tickets and is expected to continue to increase to around 20,000 passengers per day.

During this long weekend period, around 80 per cent of passengers chose the Halim-Padalarang route. Of this number, around 70 per cent of passengers continued their journey using the Feeder train to Bandung Station. This shows the high interest of the public in intermodal integration to reach the centre of Bandung City and other tourist areas.

Eva said that most Whoosh users are domestic tourists visiting the Lembang area, Braga, culinary centres, shopping centres, and family tourist destinations in the Greater Bandung area. In addition to domestic tourists, KCIC also recorded a significant number of foreign tourists, especially from Malaysia, who used the Whoosh service during their holidays in Indonesia.

KCIC advises the public to book tickets immediately so as not to run out during the long weekend period. Ticket reservations can be made via the Whoosh application, the official website ticket.kcic.co.id, Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, BRImo, Wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, Traveloka, and Trip.com.

KCIC also reminds passengers to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure for ticket inspection, security, and boarding.

“KCIC invites the public to plan their trips well, book tickets in advance, and arrive on time at the station,” said Eva.
