Long trailer truck traffic jams stretch from Tanjung Priok to Cakung-Cilincing
Trailer trucks carrying containers and private vehicles are stuck in a long traffic jam stretching from the Tanjung Priok port area to Cilincing Road, Marunda, and Cakung-Cilincing (Cacing) on Thursday afternoon.
The North Jakarta Transportation Department deployed personnel to alleviate traffic congestion suspected to be caused by queues from loading and unloading activities at container truck depots.
‘We have deployed personnel at the site to manage traffic flow,’ said Yulza Romadhoni, Head of Operations for the North Jakarta Transportation Department, on Thursday.
He stated that 10 personnel have been deployed at traffic congestion points, with officers working to clear the bottlenecks in the area.
‘We are working to restore traffic flow,’ he added.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon, hundreds of vehicles were caught in traffic jams from Tanjung Priok towards Marunda in Cilincing District. The large vehicles were reportedly stuck due to congestion at container truck depots.
The congestion also affected Yos Sudarso Road in front of the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office towards Tanjung Priok Port. Traffic jams also stretched from Cawang Toll Exit towards Yos Sudarso Road.
A similar situation occurred on Monday (25 May), causing traffic issues around Tanjung Priok Port to Cilincing from Monday afternoon until evening.
