Long Queues at Soetta Airport: Passengers Urged to Arrive 3 Hours Before Departure
Multiple aircraft passengers have complained about lengthy check-in and baggage queues at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, since Sunday morning (15 March 2026).
This was reported by social media users through the Thread platform. One user, identified as @zendriandrifin, shared their experience, stating: “If you’re heading out from CGK for Lebaran travel, try to arrive 4-5 hours before your flight, as check-in queues are really bad. I waited almost 2 hours just to check in with Garuda at Terminal 3.”
The post gained widespread attention, with many other Thread users reporting similar experiences at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Assistant Deputy for Communication and Legal Affairs at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Yudistiawan, responded to the complaints.
According to projections, the total passenger movements during the 2026 Lebaran transport period at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are expected to reach 3 million passengers, an increase of approximately 2.22 per cent compared to the same period in 2025.
The 2026 Lebaran transport period at Soekarno-Hatta Airport runs for 18 days, from 13 to 30 March 2026.
Yudistiawan stated that airport management is ensuring operations continue to run safely and smoothly. Nevertheless, various anticipatory measures have been implemented through intensive coordination with airlines, ground handling operators, and relevant authorities to optimise passenger flow management and terminal facility utilisation.
Through these efforts, potential passenger queues can be minimised and service quality for airport users maintained.
During the 2026 Lebaran travel period, Soekarno-Hatta Airport management is recommending aircraft passengers to arrive even earlier. “Passengers are advised to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure time in order to anticipate potential congestion at the airport,” he advised.
To support smooth travel, passengers are also urged to double-check their departure schedules and assigned terminals to avoid terminal confusion.
