PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 4 Semarang recorded high public mobility during the extended Labour Day National Holiday period, which coincided with the weekend, from 1 to 3 May 2026.

Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated that during this period, train stations in Grobogan Regency, Central Java, served 7,761 passengers.

The breakdown shows 3,947 passengers departing and 3,814 arriving at the train stations in Grobogan Regency.

The peak in passenger departures, according to Luqman, occurred on Saturday, 2 May 2026, with the number reaching 1,401 passengers.

Meanwhile, the peak in passenger arrivals took place on Friday, 1 May 2026, with a total of 1,575 passengers arriving at the train stations in Grobogan Regency, such as Gundih, Gambringan, Ngrombo, Kradenan, and Kedungjati stations.

Luqman explained that to accommodate public travel needs, KAI Daop 4 Semarang operates an average of 34 long-distance train trips daily, with a seat capacity provided reaching 21,128 seats per day.

This capacity, Luqman continued, is part of KAI’s efforts to ensure the availability of adequate transportation services.

“Especially during periods with high demand such as national long holidays,” Luqman said.

Several popular trains among passengers include the Ambarawa Ekspres, Airlangga, Blora Jaya, Joglosemarkerto, and Banyubiru trains.

The availability of these services also supports connectivity to various tourist destinations in the Central Java region and surrounding areas, such as the heritage area of Kota Lama Semarang, the north coast of Java, and cultural destinations in the Solo and Yogyakarta regions.

KAI Daop 4 Semarang views the long holiday momentum not only as an increase in public mobility but also as an opportunity to drive growth in the regional tourism sector.

The ease of transportation access offered by trains becomes one of the important factors in increasing public interest in travelling, both to flagship destinations and supporting areas.

During this long holiday period, KAI Daop 4 Semarang continues to operate train trips according to the established schedule and ensures the readiness of facilities and infrastructure to maintain passenger safety and comfort.

“KAI also urges passengers to arrive at the station earlier, ensure the travel schedule matches the ticket, and comply with all applicable travel regulations,” Luqman concluded.
