Long holiday: Traffic chief ensures Puncak traffic remains controlled
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps Chief, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, has assured that traffic in Puncak, Bogor, remains under control during the long holiday period coinciding with Eid al-Adha, Waisak, and Pancasila Day.
He stated that traffic police have monitored various toll roads and Puncak tourist areas over the past week.
“On Wednesday (27 May), we monitored toll roads, and today we are in West Java, specifically at Gadog,” he said in an official statement while inspecting traffic conditions in Puncak, Bogor, West Java, on Monday.
Monitoring revealed traffic congestion in the area from Saturday (30 May) to Sunday (31 May) with high vehicle volumes.
“The peak occurred from Saturday to Sunday, with nearly 40,000 vehicles in a 24-hour period today,” he said.
Nevertheless, traffic conditions remain manageable through various traffic management measures implemented by officers on the ground, including one-way traffic systems.
“From morning heading uphill, a one-way system was implemented, and today at 2pm WIB, a one-way system was enforced towards Jakarta,” he added.
He also reported that traffic on other major routes remains controlled.
“Everything is under control, including Trans-Java, routes to Cikupa, and Trans-Sumatra, with regional traffic directors reporting manageable conditions, and we are always present on the ground,” he said.
