Long Holiday Over: 161,805 Vehicles Have Returned to Jabodetabek

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded that as many as 161,805 vehicles had returned to the Jabodetabek area during the H+2 period of the Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday, or Saturday (May 16, 2026).

This figure represents the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates, namely Cikupa Toll Gate (from Merak), Ciawi Toll Gate (from Puncak), Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (from Trans Java) and Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate (from Bandung).

Jasa Marga’s Director General, Rivan A. Purwantono, said that the number of vehicles returning to Jabodetabek had increased by 11.90 percent compared to normal traffic of 144,601 vehicles.

The majority of vehicles entering Jabodetabek came from the east (Trans Java and Bandung) with 74,533 vehicles or 46.1 percent of the total vehicles.

Meanwhile, from the south (Puncak) there were 44,316 vehicles or 27.4 percent, and from the west (Merak) there were 42,956 vehicles or 26.5 percent.

In detail, for the eastern route, vehicles from Trans Java passing through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road were recorded at 33,991 vehicles, an increase of 23.43 percent compared to normal traffic.

“So, the total traffic entering Jabodetabek from the Trans Java and Bandung routes through the two toll gates is 74,533 vehicles, an increase of 22.33 percent from normal traffic,” he explained.

As for the western route, vehicles from Merak passing through the Cikupa Toll Gate on the Tangerang-Merak toll road were recorded at 42,956 vehicles, a decrease of 4.75 percent from normal traffic.

Meanwhile, vehicles from the southern route passing through the Ciawi Toll Gate on the Jagorawi toll road were recorded at 44,316 vehicles, an increase of 14.88 percent from normal traffic.

Jasa Marga predicts that around 189,000 vehicles will enter Jabodetabek or an increase of 8.1 percent compared to normal traffic, with the majority of vehicles coming from the eastern route.

“Therefore, we urge road users to anticipate travel time to avoid potential congestion,” said Rivan.

Jasa Marga also urges road users to prepare for their journey properly, ensure that vehicle and driver conditions are in good condition, and prioritize safety while driving on toll roads.
